Synopsis

Naomi Westfield has the perfect fiancé: Nicholas Rose holds doors open for her, remembers her restaurant orders, and comes from the kind of upstanding society family any bride would love to be a part of. They never fight. They’re preparing for their lavish wedding that’s three months away. And she is miserably and utterly sick of him.

Naomi wants out, but there’s a catch: whoever ends the engagement will have to foot the nonrefundable wedding bill. When Naomi discovers that Nicholas, too, has been feigning contentment, the two of them go head-to-head in a battle of pranks, sabotage, and all-out emotional warfare.

But with the countdown looming to the wedding that may or may not come to pass, Naomi finds her resolve slipping. Because now that they have nothing to lose, they’re finally being themselves–and having fun with the last person they expect: each other.

Review

The Hating Game is the rom-com to which I measure all other rom-coms, and I have to say this book came the closest to matching my feelings. You Deserve Each Other is not the traditional story of two people meeting and starting a relationship. The book begins with a couple that is already engaged. But this is very much a book about two people falling in love.

There are a few reasons The Hating Game is a great comparison to this book. This is a twist on an enemies to lovers book, so there is some amazing banter. Naomi and Nicholas do play some crazy pranks on each other and taunt each other in such a fun way. But the thing that makes it comparable, and what I loved was watching Naomi struggle with her feelings for Nicholas. I loved learning with Naomi what kind of person Nicholas is.

I did not expect to love this book as much as I did. I mean I knew I’d like it, it is enemies to lovers after all. But that alone doesn’t make me love the book. The characters were fantastic. Were there times when I was yelling in my head and Naomi? Yes, but it was out of love. The story was great and at times laugh out loud funny. You Deserve Each Other is the rom-com you deserve. I highly highly recommend this book!
