Top Ten Tuesday – My Favorite Witches and Wizards

Top Ten Tuesday My Favorite Witches and Wizards

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is a Halloween Freebie, so I chose to share my Favorite Witches and Wizards.    Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and has since moved to That Artsy Reader Girl beginning in January of 2018.

In honor of Halloween, I decided to share my top ten favorite witches and wizards.  I did also include warlocks and I kept the Harry Potter character to a minimum.

10. Evie from Sea Witch

Book Cover Sea Witch by Sarah Hennings

Ursula is my favorite Disney villain, so it’s only fitting that I choose the story of who she was before she became the sea witch.

9. Nora Walker from Winterwood

Book Cover Winterwood bu Shea Ernshaw

My review will be up on Thursday, but I enjoyed this book, especially Nora and how strongly rooted she is in herself!

8. Lydia from the Witch of Willow Hall

Book Cover the Witch of Willow Hall

You can read my full review here, but this was such an incredible gothic novel and I really enjoyed reading Lydia’s Journey into coming into her powers.

7. Sophie Mercer from Hex Hall

Book Cover Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins

I read this series awhile ago, and I would say its more on the young side of young adult fiction, but Sophie is a very interesting character and I enjoyed this quick series.

6. Lou from Serpent & Dove

Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin

This is one of my favorite reads of 2019.  It totally caught me by surprise how much I enjoyed it.  And Lou is just such an amazing character!  You can read my review here.

5. Diana Bishop from A Discovery of Witches

Book cover A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

Diana Bishop is one of the most badass witches of all time.  She is such a force, and she protects those she loves.  I really enjoyed reading about her journey.

4. Magnus Bane from the Shadowhunters

Book Cover The Red Scrolls of Magic

So yes he’s a Warlock, but the same basic thing.  Magnus truly makes all of these books, and honestly, if you are going to have an immortal character who is in all of your books I can’t think of one better than Magnus Bane.

3. Remus Lupin from Harry Potter

Book Cover The Prisoner of Azkaban

I am just as surprised as you are that Sirius Black’s name is not on this list, but when I really think about it Lupin was such a fantastic Wizard and an even better teacher.  I loved his character, and what it was meant to represent.  He is truly what makes the prisoner of Azkaban one of my favorite books.

2. Titus from the Elemental Trilogy

Book Cover The Burning Sky by Sherry Thomas

This is one of my favorite series.  I recommend it to people all the time, and Titus is one of my favorite characters.  So if you haven’t read this series yet you should.

1. Baz from Carry On

32768522

Baz isn’t just one of my favorite magical people, he is one of my all-time favorite characters!  I just love his smart and sass, and this book truly got better once he entered.  You can read my review of Cary On here, and my review of Wayward Son will be posted soon!

  1. Love this post! So glad to see Remus Lupin on here. He’s so underrated. I haven’t read most of these yet, but almost all of them are on my TBR, so I look forward to meeting these characters! I actually just got a copy of Carry On, so I’m super excited to see that you love Baz so much!

    Here’s my TTT post.

    • Baz is the best, and yes poor Lupin gets no love

  2. Nice post! ? I agree that Remus Lupin is underrated, he is a very kind person and indeed a great teacher. It’s a pity that he had to leave Hogwarts! I also loved Diana in A Discovery of Witches. I really want to read the other books in that trilogy!

    • I think he was the best teacher at Hogwarts!

  3. I love the WINTERWOOD cover. And I haven’t yet read Rainbow Rowell at all.

    • oh you should check her out, great books! Winterwood is very eerie just like the cover!

  4. I really need to pick back up the “Discovery of Witches” series. I read the first one like a decade ago and really enjoyed it. I love that it is still such a popular series.

  5. YESSS!! So many great picks on here. I just started Discovery of Witches so I’m kind of stoked to see how much love it gets in the community–it makes me excited to continue! (ALSO, BAZ!!!!!! My son. AND, Remus? Magnus? Evie? YES, YES, YES.)

    • Yes I really enjoyed it too, though I don’t remember if I actually finished the series

  6. If I did this topic, my whole list would be Harry Potter characters. They’ll always be my favorite magical people! I love Carry On, too. I need to reread it before I get to the sequel.

    • I made an effort to only include one because yes my list wold have been full of them
