Synopsis
Kristen Petersen doesn’t do drama, will fight to the death for her friends, and has no room in her life for guys who just don’t get her. She’s also keeping a big secret: facing a medically necessary procedure that will make it impossible for her to have children.
Planning her best friend’s wedding is bittersweet for Kristen—especially when she meets the best man, Josh Copeland. He’s funny, sexy, never offended by her mile-wide streak of sarcasm, and always one chicken enchilada ahead of her hangry. Even her dog, Stuntman Mike, adores him. Review
I loved The Friend Zone until I hit about the 75% mark. I didn’t hate it after that or anything, but it became a bit of a different book, at least from my perspective at that point.
I loved the characters Kristen and Josh were funny and had instant chemistry. Without giving too much of the story away, there were times, especially in the last 25% of the book, in which I wanted to shake Kristen. Her stubbornness got annoying pretty quickly. But she was snarky and funny for the majority of the book. Josh, on the other hand, I loved from the get-go. He was so kind and considerate.
Again, up until 75%, I really enjoyed the story, and I didn’t hate the end, but it was almost too much. It seemed a little forced and cliche. Yes, I know this is a rom-com, so I expect that, but I would have liked these characters to have gone down a different path personally.
I listened to the audiobook read by Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton. I thought they both did a great job, and their voices certainly fit the characters.
Despite the end, I still really enjoyed this book, and I felt I’ve already started on the next book in the series, The Happy Ever After Playlist.
