Synopsis

Keep my head down and make it through my final year of school without attracting any attention. That was my plan.
The thing about plans? They change.
One day, I was an invisible loner, the next, my name was on everyone’s lips.
Why?
I caught the attention of the wrong person.
I tricked Carter Blackthorne, the king of Alstone High.
He found out.
And now?
Now, he’s making me pay.

It’s time for you to pay the price.
You tricked me once, but you won’t trick me twice.

Ready or not, here I come…

Review

Trick Me Twice was a bit of a letdown for me.  I didn’t think it was anything special, and there was a sort of twist thrown in at the end that wasn’t necessarily out of nowhere but just wasn’t needed.

I liked Carter and Raine, though I feel like Carter’s reason for “hating” Raine was pretty lame.  It seemed like it was more an issue that Carter had with his parents instead of Raine.  I didn’t think this book was particularly dark.  There is some bullying and maybe a few kinks but nothing too crazy.

This book is told from both Raine’s and Carter’s points of view. Although I’ve mentioned this before, I prefer to have the “bully’s” point of view with these types of books.  I know that sometimes it doesn’t make sense for plot purposes, but in this case, it did, and I was glad Carter’s perspective was included in Trick Me Twice.  I don’t think I would have liked him much without it.

Plot-wise there isn’t a ton going on except for that twist I mentioned that wasn’t necessary and seemed forced.  It is really the story of Carter and Raine and them figuring out their stuff. Overall this was a quick read, and while it isn’t my favorite, it was entertaining enough.
