Review
My review for the Beautiful took me a couple of days to write. As soon as I finished, I knew I liked but did not love the book, and I also knew the wait for the next book was going to be long and painful.
As I said, I liked this book. The writing was phenomenal. I loved Celine. She is the quintessential young adult heroine. I adored the setting, could you ask for something better than paranormal historical fiction set in New Orleans? No, you can’t. But there was one thing I just didn’t get and that was Sébastien.
Celine was such a great character, but I had a hard time figuring out what she saw in Sébastien, other than that he was hot. I get that Sébastien is supposed to be a mysterious character, but I feel like I know nothing about him. And since their relationship is a large part of the story, it fell flat for me. I did enjoy the overarching mystery, and after the ending of this book, I am eagerly awaiting the next in this series.
