Synopsis

Vera Gallagher is chasing constant. For four years, her life was anything but normal. And the years before that she refuses to even remember. Dwelling on the past only hurts. Life is fragile, a lesson her mother taught her well. She’s determined not to waste a moment of her newfound freedom.

Maybe some would consider her crush on Mateo Eden wasted time. Maybe some would call her a fool for loving a man who hasn’t once dropped a crumb of interest her way. Still, to Vera, it’s Mateo or nothing.

He’s handsome. Charming. Witty. And he loves his family the way Vera loves—with her whole heart.

Maybe he’ll never notice her. Maybe she’s too damaged, too broken, to find that normal life she craves. Maybe her secrets will always keep them apart. But Vera will love him anyway. Whether Mateo realizes it or not.

An unrequited love, small town romance.

Review

As the final book in Devney Perry’s Eden’s series, Sable Peak bids farewell to beloved characters in a poignant and satisfying conclusion. From the very first page, readers are drawn into the lives of the Edens once again, and saying goodbye to this family feels like bidding farewell to old friends.

One of the highlights of Sable Peak is the opportunity to delve deeper into the enigmatic Mateo Eden’s story. Throughout the series, Mateo has remained a mystery, and finally getting to see more of him was a treat for fans. However, it was Vera who truly stole the show for me in Sable Peak. Watching her growth and transformation since we last saw her was nothing short of inspiring. Vera’s journey is one of perseverance and resilience, and seeing her come into her own was immensely satisfying. Perry beautifully captures her character arc, delivering an ending that feels both earned and uplifting.

The audiobook performed by Samantha Brentmoor and Ryan Hudson was great. I did feel like Hudson was a little stiff as Mateo, but nothing that took away from my enjoyment. Samantha Brentmoor was fantastic as always. She was so good at conveying Vera’s emotions!

While I’m sad to bid farewell to the Edens, Sable Peak provides a fitting conclusion to their story. It’s a book filled with heart, soul, and plenty of emotion, and I couldn’t have asked for a better ending for these beloved characters. Devney Perry has crafted a series that will stay with readers long after the final chapter, and Sable Peak is a testament to her talent as a storyteller.

If you’re a fan of heartwarming romance with richly drawn characters and a strong sense of place, Sable Peak is a must-read. Devney Perry has created a world that feels like home, and saying goodbye is bittersweet. But I have no doubt that these characters will live on in the hearts of readers for years to come.
