I received this book in exchange for an honest review
You must be strong enough to strike and strike and strike again without tiring.
The first lesson is to make yourself strong.
After the jaw-dropping revelation that Oak is the heir to Faerie, Jude must keep her younger brother safe. To do so, she has bound the wicked king, Cardan, to her, and made herself the power behind the throne. Navigating the constantly shifting political alliances of Faerie would be difficult enough if Cardan were easy to control. But he does everything in his power to humiliate and undermine her even as his fascination with her remains undiminished.
When it becomes all too clear that someone close to Jude means to betray her, threatening her own life and the lives of everyone she loves, Jude must uncover the traitor and fight her own complicated feelings for Cardan to maintain control as a mortal in a Faerie world. (Goodreads)
Wait, what just happened!
I enjoyed Cruel Prince (you can check out my review here). But I LOVED the Wicked King. The interaction between Jude and Caradan is amazing! I love the tension that exists between them! Cardan is written in a way that, I at least, can’t help but love him, knowing full well how horrible he is. Jude, I completely understand your situation!
This book even more so than the last is a true political thriller. You have no idea who to trust even up until the very end! This book is only about 330 pages, but it seems so much longer with all the happens in it! There is never a dull moment in this book. Though there are parts that are difficult to read, it is necessary to show what this realm is really like.
Holly Blacks writing style makes this a quick, easy and enjoyable read. I’ve read several books and always admire the simplicity of her style. Its probably why she can take such a complicated plot and fit it into 330 pages.
I need the next book like right now!
