On Christmas Eve five years ago, Holly was visited by three ghosts who showed her how selfish and spoiled she’d become. They tried to convince her to mend her ways.
She didn’t.
And then she died.
Now she’s stuck working for the top-secret company Project Scrooge–as the latest Ghost of Christmas Past.
Every year, they save another miserly grouch. Every year, Holly stays frozen at seventeen while her family and friends go on living without her. So far, Holly’s afterlife has been miserable.
But this year, everything is about to change. . . . (Goodreads)
Wow, okay this is definitely a new spin on Dickens!
I picked up this book after seeing it on Instagram a couple of times. I started it back in December, but due to some library due dates, I didn’t get very far. I liked that I had read so far, so I picked this up again a little over a week ago, and boy am I glad I did! I’ve read and seen a lot of different versions of the Dickens Classic, A Christmas Carol, but this one is my new favorite.
I loved the characters, all of them, but particularly Holly. She was the meanest of mean girls and I really enjoyed seeing her grow and change in a very believable way. I also really enjoyed the plot. The twist was fantastic and I didn’t see it coming at all, well not most of it anyway. Everything about this book was wonderful, and I highly recommend it.
This is a great new twist on a classic.
