Review
Private Property is a Jane Eyre retelling and I have to admit I had no idea how much I wanted a book like this until now!
Skye Warren did a great job of recreating the setting of the Moors of England in the US. The small coastal town with the house on the cliff is the perfect setting for this story. I loved Jane and Rochester. The characters are similar to those in Jane Eyre, but Jane is a more modern woman, and I like how she pushes back.
The story is told in alternating POVs switching between Jane and Rochester. As most of you know, I love a dual POV, and in this book especially, it helps. Rochester is not exactly the most open person, so getting a look into his thoughts is important for understanding the story and, let’s face it, make Rochester likable.
Private Property is more about the characters and their relationship. The character dynamics really make this an entertaining read, and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!
