Synopsis

Anastasia Allen has worked her entire life for a shot at Team USA.

A competitive figure skater since she was five years old, a full college scholarship thanks to her place on the Maple Hills skating team, and a schedule that would make even the most driven person weep, Stassie comes to win.

No exceptions.

Nathan Hawkins has never had a problem he couldn’t solve. As captain of the Maple Hills Titans, he knows the responsibility of keeping the hockey team on the ice rests on his shoulders.

When a misunderstanding results in the two teams sharing a rink, and Anastasia’s partner gets hurt in the aftermath, Nate finds himself swapping his stick for tights, and one scary coach for an even scarier one.

The pair find themselves stuck together in more ways than one, but it’s fine, because Anastasia doesn’t even like hockey players…right?

Review

I have seen Icebreaker all over, and I’m glad I took that recommendation.

Icebreaker is a college romance. It was cute and a lot steamier than I thought it would be. I really enjoyed these two characters. Stassie was a little type A for me initially, and I hated Aaron, and her defense of him irritated me. But she was very strong, and I respected her dedication. Nathan is excellent. He was such a great MMC. He was kind and compassionate and a great dirty talker!

I liked that Icebreaker didn’t use a lot of the traditional elements romcoms often do. Once these two got together, there wasn’t miscommunication, and there was trust and compassion from all parties. However, I will say that this book is a little longer than it needed to be. Some editing would have served it well.

I listened to this book, narrated by Tim Paige and Elizabeth Louise. Elizabeth Louise is a new narrator to me, and I enjoyed her. Tim Paige also did a good job with Nathan’s POV chapters.

Icebreaker was an enjoyable read, and I will certainly be reading the next book in this series.
