Synopsis

Teddy Crutcher has won Teacher of the Year at the esteemed Belmont Academy, home to the best and brightest.

He says his wife couldn’t be more proud—though no one has seen her in a while.

Teddy really can’t be bothered with the death of a school parent that’s looking more and more like murder or the student digging a little too deep into Teddy’s personal life. His main focus is on pushing these kids to their full academic potential.

All he wants is for his colleagues—and the endlessly meddlesome parents—to stay out of his way.

It’s really too bad that sometimes excellence can come at such a high cost.

Review

For Your Own Good was one of those books that could have been ripped from the headlines, heck maybe it was.

This was one of those books where I thought I knew where it was going, and I was a little right and a little wrong. It was told from multiple points of view, which added even more mystery to the story, as ever POV added a new layer.
I was also impressed with how seamlessly the author switched from one character to the next. I was never confused about which character’s point of view I was reading.

The characters are very intriguing, though, not very likable. Usually, that would turn me off, but in this case, I didn’t mind. I liked seeing all of these flawed people interact in this small universe. I think not liking these characters was sort of the point. It helps give you an understanding of the motives each character has.

This was a great thriller, and I can’t wait to read more by this author.
