Synopsis

I wasn’t supposed to be on that roof on Valentine’s Day.

Neither was Kellan Marchetti, the school’s designated freak.

We met on the verge of ending our lives.

Somehow, the tattered strings of our tragedies tangled and tightened into an unlikely bond.

We decided not to take the plunge and agreed to check on each other every Valentine’s Day until school ended.

Same time.

One roof.

Two restless souls.

We kept our promise for three years.

On the fourth, Kellan made a decision, and I was left to deal with the consequences.

Just when I thought our story ended, another one began.

They say all love stories look the same and taste different.

Mine was venomous, disgraceful, and written in scarlet scars.

My name is Charlotte Richards, but you can call me Venom.

Review

Words cannot describe how much I loved Darling Venom. I thought for sure this book was overhyped, but I was wrong. Darling Venom deserves all the hype and then some.

Darling Venom deals with suicide and mental health, and while it is a romance, it is so much more than that. I loved the characters in this book so much. I was so sad for the book to end. I connected with them in a way that I don’t always connect with fictional characters, and it was simply incredible! I loved that it was told through multiple POVs, and I loved it made it even easier to love these characters.

The story was great! The book is really about grief and forgiveness. It is an emotional read and deals heavily with suicide, addiction, and mental illness. This book is no doubt emotionally heavy, and keep that in mind when you pick it up but pick it up, you should!

I listened to the audiobook, and while I know, I missed out on highlighting some great passages because, let me tell you, the writing was phenomenal. Getting to hear this book read by these talked narrators was magical. All three of them did just a fantastic job. It certainly doesn’t hurt that they are some of my favorite narrators out there. Their voices fit the characters, and their acting was so well done!

This book is truly a gift, so if you haven’t read it yet, please do.
