So pleasantly surprised
Normally I’m not one for a cowboy romance, but if they are all like this I may have to reconsider my stance. It could be because this was basically an enemies to lovers romance, which is my kryptonite, but really I think it was simply a good story and great characters.
I’ve noticed a new trend in romance books where the POV switches between the male and female characters, and I am here for it. I really like this, because I feel like you get the full story this way. It also helps that in the instance Aspen and Case were two great characters that I really liked. They have a history, but in getting both their POVs I understood where each of them was coming from and didn’t feel like I was stepping into the middle of the story like I do sometimes with these types of books.
The mystery in this book, for me at least, was secondary to the romance between Aspen and Case, but it certainly served its purpose. Not only giving the characters a reason to interact but keeping the story interesting. I was a little surprised at the resolution of the mystery and thought maybe it would have more effect on the characters than it did.
I really enjoyed this book, and will definitely be reading the next one in the series.
