Kindle Unlimited does not make sense for everyone, but for me, it’s a great investment. I read A LOT of books. I’ve read/listened to about 70 books this year so far. And while some of those books are ones I own or get from the library, the vast majority are from Kindle Unlimited.

How It Works
You can read the whole FAQ, but the short version is this: you pay $9.99 a month for unlimited access to kindle unlimited titles. It works like a library in that there is a limit of ten titles at a time. Unlike a library, there isn’t a due date; you can keep the books in your kindle unlimited “library” for as long as you’d like. But once you have ten checked out, you will have to return a book to get another one. You also don’t need a kindle to use this. You can read on a tablet or even your smartphone with the kindle app.
Why It’s Awesome
Great Selection of Book
I have no idea how many books there are on Kindle Unlimited, but more than I can ever read in a lifetime, I’m sure. And they are always adding more! I obviously gravitate to the dark and steamy books, but there are all sorts of things, including cookbooks. Many indie authors, including Colleen Hoover, Tate James, and Lucy Smoke, have books on Kindle Unlimited. It can be a great way to try out an author before committing to buying a book that may be $15.
Audiobook Component
I love audiobooks, and Kindle Unlimited offers two ways to save on audiobooks. The first which has the most options is through whispersync. When you “checkout” a Kindle Unlimited book, often, if an audio title is available on Audible, it will allow you to buy the audio version for about $7.50, which is less than a typical audiobook or a monthly credit on Audible. I find the easiest way to get this is via the Amazon app or on the site, but I believe you can also add audio from the Kindle app.
In addition to adding on whispersync for an audiobook, some Kindle Unlimited books come with free narration. Admittedly there isn’t a huge selection, but there are some excellent books on that short list.
