Dangerous Games
The Dangerous Games trope isn’t super popular, but it is a great trope when used well. The premise of this trope is that there is some competition, that often turns deadly. Think Hunger Games orMaze Runner.

Review
I have to be honest Where Dreams Descend took me a very long time to read. I usually finish multiple books in a week, each book taking me days to finish. Where Dreams Descend took weeks. Part of that is on me, I probably wasn’t in the right mood for this sort of book.
The whole book felt like a prologue to me. Which, I suppose, makes sense being the first book in the series. But I could tell that the story was leading to much more than just this magic competition and I really wish it had gotten there sooner. I really enjoyed the ending and I will certainly read the next book in this series because I enjoyed the ending so much. But The first three-quarters of the book seemed long and drawn out.
I liked the characters in this book, but I didn’t really love any of them. I think because in my opinion not that much really happened I got bored with them. Especially with a book marketed at Moulin Rouge meets Phantom of the Opera.
As I mentioned I will continue with this series, and my advice is to stick with this book because it does get a lot better.
