Trope Tuesday: Powerful Artifacts

Powerful Artifacts

It is Trope Tuesday Link-Up! This week we are taking about powerful artifacts. As a reminder each week there will be a trope for you to use as inspiration, find the trope list here. All post types are welcome: lists, book reviews, anything really, feel free to make it your own. Please link back to All the Books and Chocolate in your own post so that others know where to find more information. You can find the link-up link at the bottom of the page.

Powerful Artifact

The powerful Artifact has been around for quite some time and can be found in many ancients myths. It can take on many forms but the artifact gives the bearer supernatural abilities.

Today instead of listing a bunch of books with this trope, I am going to focus on one series The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel. A friend recommended this to me years ago.

The-Alchemist

This series deals with one of the most powerful artifacts, the Philosopher’s Stone, which is said to give the bearer immortality. The Philosopher’s Stone is one of the most popular powerful artifacts in fiction, Harry Potter for example. This series is about the alleged creator of the Philosopher’s stone Nicholas Flamel and his fight to protect it from falling into the wrong hands.

He enlists the help of two teens (because it is YA after all) and the series twits and turns through different worlds and mythologies. What I liked most about this series is how it incorporates the mythologies for all over. There is Egyptian, Greek, Celtic and many more all in one book. If that sounds good to you, than I highly suggest you check out this series.
