Review
Beach Read is one of those books that could easily have left me with a book hangover. Yes, at its heart is a romance, but it is so much more. I connected with the book and January more specifically due to something I went through earlier this year. For me, this made the book both wonderful and a little hard to read.
Beach Read is told for January’s POV, and for story reasons it made perfect sense. Not only was it important to get in her head and feel everything she was feeling, but Gus also needed to remain a mystery. As January discovers who Gus is and what is going on with him, so does the reader. I loved that these two had a history and that they were both writers. The book writing plot point gave this story something different.
While Beach Read does deal with some pretty series issues, it is still extremely funny. The banter between Gus and January was phenomenal. It was truly some of the best I’ve read in a while. Then you add in an amusing cast of supporting characters, and this book had me smiling from ear to ear, you know when I wasn’t crying.
I loved this book, it was so well written and the right amount of funny and emotional. I cannot recommend it enough.
Lovely review! This sounds like a book I could use in my life right now, funny but also with serious tones. I am also a fan of the cover~
