Synopsis

Five years ago, I masterminded the infamous massacre of the Tri-state Timberwolves.

The streets outside the Wolves HQ ran red with the blood of the old guard, and not one of those members loyal to my father were spared mercy. Not a single one.

I let the media twist and distort the story. My new recruits eagerly proved themselves in spreading false news, in covering our tracks. To the general public, the Tri-State Timberwolves were extinct.

But that couldn’t have been further from the truth. We changed, we grew, we evolved and came out stronger than ever. Now, I live, eat, sleep and breathe Timberwolves. I’ll do anything to keep my empire safe and thriving. To keep the people depending on me safe.

So, what do I do, when it’s my own weakness that places us all in danger? When I let sex cloud my judgment, and my people pay the price?

Simple. Kill the distractions.

I’m called Hades for a reason, after all.

Review

Before I start the actual review, I want to get a couple of things out of the way.  First, this is not a sequel to the Madison Kate series, yes there are characters from the MK series in this book, and yes, a few of your MK favorite show up in this book (like my boy Max, sigh), but this is an entirely separate book.  Second, this is a dark romance.  These characters are not what we call stereotypically “good,” and the book is pretty violent.  Finally, I’m not going to tell you who Hades is in this review…sorry, not sorry.

Okay, with that out of the way, the review.  Hades is a fucking badass! She’s everything I love in a main character.  7th Circle is told from Hades’s POV, so while you see the tough exterior she puts out, you also know that she is a little insecure and a bit of a softie. I love reading books about powerful women, and this one didn’t disappoint.  We learn more about Hades’s past throughout the story, and I can’t wait to see how this plays out.  I did expect her to be a bit older, but now that I’ve read the book, I get why she’s on the young side.

7th Circle is a reverse harem, and while this book is less of a harem, you can see where it’s going.  So the men.  First is Lucas. He’s the sweet, charming one of the group, who happens to be a very talented male entertainer.  I figured out his “twist” pretty quickly, but it didn’t make the reveal any less enjoyable.  Zed is Hades’s right-hand man, and we were introduced to him in Kate.  He’s been Hades’s best friend for years, and I can’t wait to learn more about their past.  I have a feeling this guy will be my favorite, but he may lose out to the third guy.  Cass, or as I like to call him Daddy Cass, is pretty amazing.  We met Cass in the MK series, and he is probably the character I was most familiar with at the start of this book.  I fell in love with him a little in Fake, and 7th Circle only increased my love.  He’s gruff and grumpy, but you know that he is a sweet guy who probably likes to take charge under his exterior.  I am VERY excited to see how this harem will work.  Zed and Cass don’t seem like they are the sharing type, and since none of these guys are what I would call friends, this will get interesting.

The characters are great, and while I can’t wait to see how Hades juggles her men.  I am also very intrigued by the mystery. And, of course,  this wouldn’t be a Tate James book if it didn’t end in a cliffhanger.  I was excited about the second book, but now the wait is almost unbearable.
